The territory of Yakutia is larger than the territories of France, Austria, Germany, Italy, Sweden, UK, Finland and Greece put together. It’s the largest republic of the Russian Federation but only one million people live on this vast territory.
Yakutia is a land of mountains and valleys. There is a great number of lakes and rivers. The Lena river is the longest and the most beautiful of all.

rich in polar foxes, sables, hares and deer. The lakes and rivers are full of fish: omul, chir, muksun, karas, white salmon nelma, sturgeon, taimen or Tsar-fish, as local people proudly call it. Taimen can reach two or even three metres and weigh about 80 kilograms.
Yakutia is one of those rare places on the planet, where primeval purity of nature and surprising variety of flora and fauna are kept.

The northern berries are incredibly delicious and northern flowers are fascinating. Sardaana is a real queen of Siberian flowers. A small Yakut settlement Oymyakon – the Pole of Cold in the Northern Hemisphere – can be called one of the world’s wonders. The meteorologists registered there the planet’s lowest temperature - -70 C.
