Why we decided to do this project work?

town or city and each it beautiful in its own way. I live in the town of Zheleznodorozhny which is situated 23 km east of Moscow. Today it is an industrial town with the population exceeding 100 000 people.
The town of Zheleznodorozhny got its name in 1939 because its development was the result of unification of several villages and working settlements around the railway station which seems to have always been the centre of social life in this town. In the 19th century the station building was a church with its own iconostasis and service was regularly held there. Near the station there was a market place and some inns. At that time the station was called Obiralovka, after the name of the village situated nearby. The origin of this name is easily explained. In the 18th century robbery on the roads was neither an unusual thing nor was it disapproved of. The village people often participated in robberies and feasts. In 1862 the station Obiralovka became widely known due to the publication of Leo Tolstoy`s novel “Anna Karenina”. It was at this station that Anna`s life ended so tragically.

The oldest part of the town is the district of Kuchino, with its history dating back to the 16th century. It has always been rich in clay and at the beginning of the 19th century the first plant producing red bricks was built. It was at the Kuchino plants that the red bricks for the Central History Museum in Moscow were made. In 1904 the Aerodynamics Research Institute was opened with Zhukovsky, the the founder of Russian aviation, as head of research work. Later the institute became known throughout the world.
The history of another district called Savino goes back to the 17th century. It used to be a village with a mansion owned by the Lopukhins, the Poltevs, the Morozovs. There was a beautiful park around the mansion, and in 1882 the Transfiguration Church was built on the bank of the Savvinka River

been preserved up to nowadays. Many people attend service in this church at the weekend as well as on holidays. Savvino is an industrial district as well. In 1987 the Spinning and Weaving factory was opened there and this provided employment for many peasants from neighbouring villages of Purshevo, Dyatlovka and others. Around the factory a working settlement emerged and as it grew it became part of the town.
The people of Zheleznodorozhny displayed courage and heroism in the grim years of the Great Patriotic War. Two of them, Gusarov and Sokolov, were awarded the title of hero of the Soviet Union.
Today Zheleznodorozhny is a modern town with big supermarkets, department stores, stadiums, secondary and technical schools, kindergardens and cinemas. There are many clubs, music, sport and art schools for children and grown-ups. We are proud of our town.

Andrey Bely is a great Russian man. He was a poet,A prose writer, a philosopher, a literary critic and a publicist. He lived in XIX century. All people call this time "The silver century".Andrey Bely loved his homeland. It was Zheleznodorozhny,The village Kuchino.He wrote his best poems here.Bely knew a lot of well-known poets such as S.Esenin. We are proud of A.Bely,because he was our great poet.

very interesting to know more about the history of our town,about the people who live in our town,about different artists,musicians and poets whose fates were also linked with our town.Also it was very interesting to ask some people,who live in other countries"How they imagine Moscow?"So, when we were doing this project work we became good friends.
