We are pupils of the 5th form. We study English in our lyceum. I like to sing. I like to sing too. We are very creative persons. We are glad to present our small research for you. We think that you will find something interesting for yourself. We want to tell you about the History of one song… It is the song «Jingle Bells». It is a very popular song all over the world.
All people like holidays. Christmas is one of the most favorite holidays among the children and adults. There are a lot of popular Christmas songs but «Jingle Bells» is the most popular. How did it appear?
Once, on 25 April, 1822 James Pierpont was born in the family of Boston pastor John Pierpont and Mary Sheldon.

When James was 10 years old he was sent to school in New Hampshire. He often wrote letters to his mother and talked how he was sledding.
In 1845 James married Millicent Cowee. In 1849 he left his family and went to San Francisco to start his own business. It was gold rush. Not everybody is lucky in business. Having lost everything he came back in Medford in 1851.
Some time later his wife died. He married again. He gave lessons in singing and organ playing.
In August 1857 song «The One Horse Open Sleigh» written by James Lord Pierpont was published.
