Слайд 1Dear friends and guests!
Welcome to our holiday party, which is devoted
to the greatest American date. That is Thanksgiving Day!
Слайд 2I am a Turkey. I am a traditional American bird. Roast
Turkey is the main dish on many American holidays. Americans like Roast Turkey very much.
Слайд 3Why not to begin with the history of the Thanksgiving?
Слайд 4In 1620 more than one hundred Englishmen left their country forever
and went to America on board the ship “Mayflower” to live and work there. The pilgrims sailed
to America from
Plymouth,
England,
in September 1620.
Слайд 5They came to the
“New World”
for religious freedom.
Their voyage
lasted
for many weeks and
was very hard.

Many hundred years ago on the territory of America lived the
red-skin Indians. They hunted animals and birds, fished, grew corn. At first pilgrims were afraid of them because of their attacks. They (Indians) were strong and fought really bravely. But, however, the red-skin local tribes couldn’t do much against pilgrims’ guns.

The pilgrims’ first winter in the New World was difficult. They
had arrived too late to grow crops. In January 1621, there were already streets and they called it New Plymouth. Winter came and the life became very hard. Without fresh food, medicine many of the settlers died.
Слайд 9The red-skin Indians called the English people “Yankee”, as they couldn’t
say the word “Englishmen”. Since that time “Yankee” has been the name of the white man in America.
Слайд 10 Well, the Indians taught the pilgrims to hunt, fish, plant
and survive in America. It was a great joy to settlers and peaceful Indians.
In the fall 1621 the pilgrims had a great harvest. They were both regretful and thankful and decided to make a holiday dinner of giving thanks to God.
Слайд 12 Indians were invited to the feast and brought deer meat,
pop-corn, wild turkeys, geese and ducks and pumpkins.
They sat along tables and prayed….

Молитва.
Thank you
For all my hands can hold –
Apples red and
melons gold,
Yellow corn both ripe and sweet,
Peas and beans, so good to eat.
Thank you
For all my eyes can see
Lovely sunlight, field and tree,
White cloud boats in sea deep sky,
Soaring bird and butterfly.
Thank you
For all my ears can hear –
Birds’ song echoing far and near,
Songs of little stream, big sea,
Cricket, bullfrog, ducks, and bee!
Слайд 14Now Thanksgiving Day is a family holiday. It is customary for
all members of the family gather at the home of the father and mother. In most homes there are traditional games and dinner with turkey and pumpkin pie.

19Thanks for your attention!
Our Party is over.
